About Us

Historical building with splendid service:

Welcome to the New Holly, Forton. Built alongside the site of the original Holly Inn, a well-known and frequented coaching Inn dating back to the 17th Century. The original Holly Inn is said to have taken its name from the busy trade in the supply and cultivation of wreaths and decorations.

It was renowned for its hospitality and fine food offered to many travellers using the important Northern Coaching route known as the A6.

Sadly the Holly Inn no longer exists along with its stables, barns and many other outbuildings associated with a busy coaching Inn. However, it’s rumored that on a still crisp dark night the champing of bits, clattering hooves and voices of passengers can still be heard but don’t worry they are far to busy to notice you.
