Our top chefs have recently won the area award for Thwaites’ Catering Newcomer of The Year, and have also been finalists in the prestigious Publican Newcomer of the Year and Pub Food Champion awards, as well as runner up in the Pub Chef Awards’ Young Pub Chef of the Year.

Historical building with splendid service!

Welcome to the New Holly, Forton. Built alongside the site of the original Holly Inn, a well known and frequented coaching inn dating back to the 17th Century. The original Holly Inn is said to have taken its name from the busy trade in the supply and cultivation of wreaths and decorations.

It was renowned for its hospitality and fine food offered to many travellers using the important Northern Coaching route known as the A6.

Sadly the Holly Inn no longer exists along with its stables, barns and many other outbuildings associated with a busy coaching inn. However, it’s rumoured that on a still crisp dark night the champing of bits, clattering hooves and voices of passengers can still be heard, but don't worry they are far to busy to notice you.

Fine food, ales and wines

The tradition of good hospitality, fine food, ales and wines, is still carried on today, with our new restaurant, offering the traveller a warm welcome and the prospect of a hearty meal. All our meals are cooked to order, to the highest standards, using fresh, local produce of the finest quality.

B&B

We now have 6 new sumptuous B&B ensuite bedrooms, providing luxurious comfort for your stay. Each room has a television, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and FREE Wi Fi (Wireless Internet Connection). We feel sure you will enjoy a relaxing visit.

Games area

The games area includes a new pool table and a large plasma screen television, showing all major sporting attractions, including International and Premiership football games. We have a new large covered and heated, outside patio area with television, along with a children's play area.

Outside Parties and Catering

Thinking of having a party or celebration? We can cater for all your needs with out outside catering facility, including outside bars. Large or small parties, weddings, birthdays, christenings and funerals, whatever the occasion we can arrange it for you.
